Our weekend will concentrate on his second decade in Vienna, and will feature a variety of music, including symphonies, concertos, chamber music and piano sonatas, with illustrations on excellent hi-fi equipment as well as a live concert. The weekend is designed as an informal ‘house party’, so guests need only the ability to enjoy music; no technical knowledge will be required. Arts in Residence and the Chilworth Manor Hotel offer an excellent cuisine including wine with dinner. The event will end with afternoon tea on Sunday, but for those wishing to depart on Monday, it will be possible to stay for an extra night at a special rate. Chilworth Manor's impressive architecture is set amidst 12 acres of landscaped grounds on the outskirts of Southampton, just a few minutes drive from both the M3 and M27 motorways. The location and peaceful surroundings create a beautiful setting, while the centrepiece of the building is the magnificent galleried Manor Hall. The Brodowksi String Quartet: Violins: David Brodowski, Catrin Win Morgan Viola: Felix Tanner Cello: Vanessa Lucas-Smith First Prize Winners of the 2008 Royal Overseas League Competition, the Brodowski Quartet hold the Richard Carne Fellowship for Chamber Ensemble at Trinity College of Music. In 2008 they were selected as Park Lane Group Young Artists, performing to critical acclaim in the Purcell Room, their playing highly praised by The Times. They have performed at leading venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Barbican and the Edinburgh Festival, while future plans include the Wigmore Hall. Terry Barfoot writes widely on music for Britain's leading journals, orchestras, festivals and record companies. He lectures at venues throughout the country and is Publications Consultant to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
