THE ROMANTIC SYMPHONY
Friday 19th – Sunday 21st February 2010 New Park Manor Hotel, Brockenhurst, New Forest New Park Manor is a superbly appointed country house hotel set in the heart of the New Forest, with sweeping views across the park where herds of fallow deer and ponies graze. In 1666, King Charles II made this his favourite hunting lodge on his return from exile in France, and his royal coat of arms is displayed prominently above the fireplace in the award-winning restaurant. Our music will focus on the rich and varied repertoire of romantic symphonies, including examples by Schumann, Elgar, Raff, Chausson, Mahler and Tchaikovsky. The weekend is designed as an informal ‘house party’, and guests need only the ability to enjoy music, so no technical knowledge will be required. Terry Barfoot writes widely on music for Britain's leading journals, orchestras, festivals and record companies. He lectures at venues throughout the country and is Publications Consultant to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Price: £270.00 per person (twin/double rooms), £295.00 (single rooms) to include all meals, wine, beverages, course fees and accommodation.
