MOZART IN 1786 (including The Marriage of Figaro)

1786 was Mozart’s annus mirabilis during the final decade of his life, when he lived in Vienna. 
Our weekend will focus on some of his greatest music: the opera The Marriage of Figaro, along 
with piano concertos and chamber music.

Shapwick House is a magnificent Tudor Manor House, built in 1489 and surrounded by seven acres 
of informal gardens and grounds amid the rolling Somerset countryside. 			               
We will meet on Friday at 5pm and depart on Sunday afternoon. Arts in Residence offers an excellent 
cuisine including a four course dinner with wine and a traditional Sunday lunch.

Terry Barfoot is director of Arts in Residence. He writes widely on music for Britain’s leading 
journals, orchestras, festivals and record companies. A well known figure in the musical life of 
southern England, he lectures at Oxford and other universities, and is Publications Consultant 
to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Price: £270.00 per person (twin/double rooms), £295.00 (single rooms)
