FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:-

About the features and benefits of Arts in Residence events
 # Are the prices fully inclusive?

Yes. There are no hidden extras.
#Is there a supplement for single room occupancy?

 A small supplement is payable.
#Will I receive information about the music?

Yes. There are detailed printed programme
notes to take away.
 # How important are the food and the wine?

Very important, as important as the music.
 # Will there be other guests or events there?

Arts-in-Residence normally takes over the whole venue.
 # Who will introduce the music?

Our lecturers are experienced and are all
  experts in their field.
 # Will I need to know about music to enjoy an Arts
    in Residence event?

Certainly not. The approach is inclusive. All you
need is an interest in music and to enjoy
listening to it and sharing it with others.
 # How will the music sound?

We use excellent hi-fi equipment so that the
    music should sound as
close to the real thing as possible.
 # How large are the groups?

We aim to create a house party atmosphere and,
depending on the venue, the groups will be
    between 16 and 38.

Who or What is Arts in Residence?

Arts in Residence is a group of individuals
dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of the
Arts who have combined their skills to present
a number of high quality courses in carefully
selected venues in the UK and abroad.
Our aim is to create an atmosphere of
friendship, where the conviviality of the
mealtimes is equally as important as the
excellence of the lectures.
Many bookings are made for courses by Arts
in Residence guests at least 6 months in advance
because of the demand for places on each of the
courses.
#All courses have a limited number of places.
In order to create a 'house party' atmosphere,
we have a restriction on the number of guests
at each event. (Given the size of the venue,
the numbers attending a course can vary between
16 and 38.)
It is always advisable to ring, fax or email
us to check availability on any course in which
you may be interested, before sending your
deposit.

Stop Press:

The programme of events for
2010 is nearly complete.

announcements.
The Arts in Residence organisation was
founded in 1993 by John and Jill Couth,
in conjunction with Terry Barfoot, the
well known musical author, lecturer and
educator, and Tim Gwyther, the painter
and art historian. Following John and
Jill's retirement in 2005, Terry took over
the Arts in Residence organisation as
managing director, and it has continued
to flourish, promoting day, weekend and
mid-week events at various venues
throughout the U.K. and in Europe.

Arts in Residence events are held at many venues, including those illustrated on the Venues page.

The event "Sibelius and the Kalevela" was held at
Tattingstone in June 2009 and the course was run by the Director of Arts in Residence, Terry Barfoot
