A group of thirty or so music lovers attended "Tastes of France" at the fabulous Château Marouatte, Périgord Blanc, France, 7 - 14th April 2007 Now ARTS IN RESIDENCE has booked this fairy- tale venue once again. Full details will appear on this page shortly.
The Castle
The castle has accommodation
to the highest modern
standards. It is situated
in beautiful countryside
near the market town
of Riberac.
The Course
The Course was conducted
by Terry Barfoot and
featured a wide range
of French music by
composers including Berlioz,
Debussy, Ravel, Chausson,
Bizet and others. Musical
illustrations were
provided on excellent
hi-fi equipment, and the
weekend was designed as
an informal ‘house party’.
Guests needed only the
ability to enjoy music;
no technical knowledge
was required.
Terry Barfoot writes
widely on music for
Britain’s leading journals,
orchestras, festivals and
record companies. He
lectures at Oxford and
other universities, and
is Publications Consultant
to the Bournemouth
Symphony Orchestra.
